Waldorf, Md., December 15, 2011 - Community Bank of Tri-County is proud to support the Southern Maryland Food Bank in their efforts to collect food for the less fortunate members of our community. Through the efforts of customers and employees, Community Bank was able to collect nearly 800 pounds of food, which will be distributed throughout Southern Maryland.
"At Community Bank of Tri-County, we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work. Through the efforts of Community Corps, our community outreach program, we were able to collect enough food to provide 40 local families with meals for three days," said Michael Middleton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank of Tri-County. "We appreciate the generosity of both our employees and customers. The success of the food drive is a true testament to their commitment to our community."
The Southern Maryland Food Bank has been serving the communities of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s County for 28 years. Through donations, they are able to provide food to nearly 40 pantries, group homes, soup kitchens and shelters. The food provided to these facilities feeds more than 10,000 local families each month.
"The Southern Maryland Food Bank is always working hard to ease the pain of hunger in Southern Maryland. Unfortunately, the number of people in our region facing hunger is growing. Without the generous donations from our community, our efforts to fight hunger and food insecurity would not be possible," said Brenda DiCarlo, Director of the Southern Maryland Food Bank.
Community Bank of Tri-County is the oldest independent financial institution headquartered in Southern Maryland with ten branches and approximately $900 million in assets. Community Bank of Tri-County branches are conveniently located throughout Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary's counties, in Maryland and will be opening an eleventh branch in King George, Virginia in 2012.
