Horses are majestic and beautiful animals! The Freedom Hill Horse Rescue
is dedicated to rescuing horses from neglect, abuse, abandonment and slaughter. They work to restore respectful horsemanship, the heritage of the horse and educate the community about horses and proper care. If you have a love for horses, make an appointment to visit Freedom Hill Horse Rescue and meet the sassy and sweet horses they have on board. In this week’s Friday Focus we caught up with Lori Harrington, President/Treasurer of Freedom Hill Horse Rescue and learned about their horsetastic events they have coming up!
Q: Tell us about your organization (who you serve, what you do, etc.)
Freedom Hill Horse Rescue
is a 501(c) 3 non-profit rescue organization located in Owings, MD. We are dedicated to rescuing horses from neglect, abuse, abandonment and slaughter. We provide a safe haven for healing and rehabilitation while giving our horses a job in our educational and equine-assisted learning programs.
Q: What is your favorite “moment” (example of how your organization helped)?
There are so many things but I think my favorite is the number of women the horses have helped to regain confidence in themselves or overcome obstacles in their lives.
Q: What is your biggest challenge?
Our biggest challenge is meeting the needs of the horses in the community
that are given up. We try to take as many as we can. We also work with owners who need to give up their horses by finding them a home with another family. Horses are a long-term commitment.
