FRIDAY FOCUS - Dream Queen Association

I’m going to share an exert from the Dream Queen Association's website because I think it is so inspiring…“Imagine a place that embraced the true essence of who you are and celebrated your uniqueness. Imagine a community that encouraged you to be fulfilled in the present while inspiring your goals and dreams for the future. Imagine a culture that accepted differences and embraced messages of unity, love, truth and forgiveness. Imagine a world that celebrated the impactful treasures of being feminine, heart-centered, powerful and independent. Welcome to the Dream Queen Association!” Erin Lewis, Founder and Chairman, shared the many ways you can be a part of this motivating organization in this week’s Friday Focus.

Q: Tell us about your organization (who you serve, what you do, etc.)
Founded in 2012, The Dream Queen Association was born from a desire to connect positive, passionate, purpose-filled women and teens to each other.  What began as a dream by one woman has resulted in thousands of women and teens connecting to uplift, inspire and encourage one another to live their biggest dreams and most heartfelt desires.

The Dream Queen Foundation offers networking, retreats, conferences, clubs and workshops to help women and teen girls align careers with passion & purpose, embrace authenticity & transparency in positions of power & influence and replace greed & corruption with heart & soul leadership.

Our Signature Teen Girl Program, Gals Lead, teaches teenage girls the responsibility and the role of leadership, helps them develop a life-long love for learning and ultimately equips them to transform the 7 Cultural Spheres of Influence that define our world today: Government, Business, Education, Religion, Family, Media & Arts/Entertainment.  As a result, we are creating a place that reduces tardiness, absenteeism, poor academic achievement, low self-esteem, self-harm and teen bullying.  Our program focuses on four pillars of success: (1) Know Yourself, (2) Dream Big, (3) Overcome Obstacles, (4) Take Action.

Q: What is your favorite “moment” (example of how your organization helped)?
My favorite moments in the program normally happen in the overcome obstacles pillar where a teenage girl realizes the limitations she or others placed upon her can be removed.  The freedom witnessed as a result changes her future forever.  The burden of past choices, situations and people are able to be released allowing her to live the best and fullest version of the life she was designed to live.  It’s much easier to take action and realize your biggest dreams when you’re not carrying around such heavy burdens.  When you realize you’re not alone and there are women who have been there before who will cheer you on to new opportunities.  It’s a total game-changer.

Q: What is your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge we have right now is supporting the launch of new programs.  Specifically, in regards to recruiting volunteers and getting the financial support necessary to sustain a club for a full nine month cycle.  There are numerous ways the community can get involved in helping us with this challenge which are outlined separately.
