Banking with us is better, and we even simplify the process of switching banks. Follow these simple steps and save the documents to verify your progress. You’ll soon be on your way to a new banking relationship.

  1. Open your new Community Bank of the Chesapeake checking account.

    Stop by any of our branch locations and open your account today.

  2. Stop using your old account.

    If you’ve written checks, wait for them to clear. Destroy any unused checks and deposit slips.

  3. Move any direct deposits to your new account.

    Use our convenient online form or contact your payroll administrator at work. You will need to complete this step for every applicable direct deposit source and send the completed form to the company making the deposit. For social security direct deposits, call the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213.

  4. Move automatic payments and deposits to your new account.

    If any payments are being drafted or deposits are being made from your old account, use this automatic payment/deposit switch form to redirect. Use the form for each applicable payment and send the completed form to the company making the payment or deposit.

  5. Close your old account.

    You can use the account closing form we have provided. In some cases, you may also need to return your debit cards to the issuing bank. If after all your checks have cleared, you have a remaining balance, your old bank will send you a check for the balance.
