Elevate the Voices of Our Youth through Photography - For twenty years, the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) has provided a unique organizational model for developing and advancing community change to benefit youth. The St. Mary's County Department of Aging & Human Services will coordinate a Photovoice Workshop hosted by YLI, and led by youth on July 20 and July 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Photovoice uses photography as a means for young people to capture and reflect on their community's issues and assets through their own experiences and perspectives. The two-day interactive workshop is designed for those who want to elevate the voices of our youth through photography. Using photography, the class will teach data collection and action research to spark positive ideas in the community for ages 14-22.
